Best chalet regions near Quebec City

Ski chalets twenty minutes from Old Quebec, mountains over the St. Lawrence, a fjord and wild lakes, from 20 minutes to about three hours away, closest first.

Quebec City has real nature on its doorstep. Twenty minutes from the cobbled streets of Old Quebec, chalets in Lac-Beauport and Stoneham look onto ski hills and forest; an hour east, the mountains of Charlevoix drop straight into the St. Lawrence. West lies La Mauricie’s lake and pourvoirie country, south the quiet farmland of the Centre-du-Québec, east the wide river and sunsets of the Bas-Saint-Laurent, and north the Saguenay Fjord and Lac Saint-Jean.

Here are six regions, ordered by driving time from Quebec City. In Quebec every short-term rental must show its CITQ registration number, and every listing on our site does.

Tips for renting a chalet near Quebec City

  • Check the CITQ registration number on the listing: every short-term rental in Quebec must show one.
  • Book ski weeks and the Winter Carnival in February early; chalets near Mont-Sainte-Anne and Le Massif fill fast.
  • In winter, ask the owner whether the driveway is plowed and whether you need winter tires to reach the chalet (they are required in Quebec from December 1 to March 15).
  • Summer and fall are ideal for Charlevoix and Saguenay; book late September early for the fall colours.
  • Ask what is included: linens, firewood, a spa or sauna, canoes or kayaks, and Wi-Fi.
