Pointe au Baril is one of Georgian Bay’s classic cottage communities, where hundreds of granite islands and sheltered channels lead out to the open water. Its historic lighthouse has guided boats since the 1880s, and many cottages here are on islands reached only by boat, with docks, saunas and wide views of the sunset.
A cottage for rent in Pointe au Baril means swimming off warm rock, kayaking between islands, fishing for bass and pike and stopping at the marina in “the Station” for supplies. It is about 30 minutes north of Parry Sound and about 3 hours from Toronto.
