Discover Lake Muskoka

Lake Muskoka is the largest of the three big Muskoka lakes, a maze of granite islands, wind-bent pines and historic boathouses. Gravenhurst sits at its southern tip, with the Muskoka Wharf and the RMS Segwun, the oldest operating steamship in North America; Bala, on the west side, is famous for its falls and its cranberry festival; and Port Carling’s locks lead north into Lake Rosseau.

A cottage for rent on Lake Muskoka can be anything from a family cottage with a sandy swimming spot to an island retreat reached only by boat. Days are for swimming off the dock, boating to Port Carling for ice cream and watching sunsets over the islands. Gravenhurst is about 1¾ hours north of Toronto on Highway 11, and Bala is about 2 hours.
