Huntsville is the busiest town in north Muskoka, set on the Muskoka River among Fairy, Vernon, Mary and Peninsula lakes. A cottage for rent in Huntsville puts you on quiet water yet minutes from a walkable main street with cafés, outfitters and the Algonquin Theatre, and from Arrowhead Provincial Park, known for its sandy river beaches in summer and its skating trail through the forest in winter.
Huntsville is also the gateway to Algonquin Park: the West Gate is about 40 minutes east on Highway 60. Families like Peninsula and Fairy lakes for swimming and boating, Lions Lookout gives a view over the town and its lakes, and Hidden Valley has a small ski hill. Huntsville is about 2½ hours north of Toronto on Highway 11.
