Orillia sits on the narrows between Lake Simcoe and Lake Couchiching, with a long waterfront park, Couchiching Beach, a marina and the Stephen Leacock Museum, the summer home of the humorist who called it the “Sunshine Town”. Each July the Mariposa Folk Festival brings music to the waterfront, and the historic downtown has restaurants and shops.
A cottage for rent on Lake Couchiching or nearby Lake Simcoe gives you easy swimming and boating, with the Trent–Severn Waterway leading north toward Georgian Bay. Casino Rama and Muskoka are a short drive away. Orillia is about 1½ hours north of Toronto.
