Beaverton is a small harbour town on the quieter east shore of Lake Simcoe, where the sun sets over the water every evening. It has a sandy beach, a marina, a historic downtown and the Old Stone Church, and the shoreline north toward Gamebridge and Brechin is lined with relaxed cottages and small communities.
A cottage for rent on Lake Simcoe’s east shore is a good choice if you want big-lake swimming, boating and perch fishing with fewer crowds than the west side, while staying close to the city. Orillia is about 30 minutes north. Beaverton is about 1½ hours from Toronto.
