List for freeDiscover Stony Lake
Stony Lake (often spelled Stoney Lake) is the wild beauty of the Kawarthas: more than a thousand islands of pink granite and pine, sheltered channels and clear water, right where the Canadian Shield begins. Many cottages here are on islands or rocky points, and summer life revolves around the dock, the canoe and the historic Juniper Island store in the middle of the lake.
Nearby, Petroglyphs Provincial Park protects the largest known collection of Indigenous rock carvings in Canada, and Burleigh Falls and Young’s Point have locks, rapids and a famous butter-tart stop. A cottage for rent on Stony Lake is about 25 minutes from Peterborough and Lakefield, and about 2¼ hours from Toronto.
