Buckhorn is where the farmland of the southern Kawarthas meets the granite and pine of the Canadian Shield. The village gathers around Lock 31 on the Trent–Severn Waterway, between Buckhorn Lake and Lower Buckhorn Lake, and is known for its art galleries and the Buckhorn Fine Art Festival each August.
A cottage for rent near Buckhorn puts you close to Kawartha Highlands Provincial Park, one of the largest parks in southern Ontario, with backcountry lakes for canoeing and swimming off smooth rock. Chemong and Pigeon lakes are nearby for boating and fishing. Buckhorn is about 30 minutes from Peterborough and 2¼ hours from Toronto.
