Kennisis Lake is one of the largest lakes in the Haliburton Highlands, a clear, deep lake of bays and islands with a strong cottage community and very little through-traffic. Along with Little Kennisis and nearby Redstone and Halls lakes, it is a classic spot to find a quiet cottage for rent: swimming off the rocks, paddling in the evening and loons calling at night.
Kennisis Lake Road leads to Haliburton Forest and Wild Life Reserve, with its canopy tour, mountain biking and wolf centre, and the village of Haliburton is about 25 minutes south. In winter, the area is known for snowmobile trails. Kennisis Lake is about 3 hours from Toronto.
