Eagle Lake is a small village on a pretty lake just north of Haliburton, best known for Sir Sam’s: a family ski and snowboard hill in winter and a mountain-bike park in summer, right above the lake. The historic Sir Sam’s Inn and its spa sit on the shore, and the lake itself is clean and quiet, good for swimming and paddling.
A cottage for rent on Eagle Lake works all year — beach days in July, fall colour drives in late September, and ski weekends from January to March. The village of Haliburton is about 15 minutes away for groceries and restaurants. Eagle Lake is about 3 hours from Toronto.
