Oxtongue Lake and the village of Dwight sit on Highway 60 just outside Algonquin Park, about 15 minutes from the West Gate. The Oxtongue River flows through the area, with Ragged Falls Provincial Park a short walk from the road and calm river stretches perfect for an evening paddle. Outfitters here rent canoes and gear for park trips.
A cottage for rent near Oxtongue Lake lets you spend the day in Algonquin — hiking the Lookout Trail, watching for moose, canoeing Canoe Lake — and come back to your own dock at night. Dwight has a public beach on Lake of Bays and Huntsville is 25 minutes away. The area is about 2¾ hours from Toronto.
