Lake Temagami is one of the great wilderness lakes of Ontario, with long arms reaching in every direction, hundreds of islands and clear, deep water. The area is known for its old-growth red and white pine, protected in places like the White Bear Forest, and for canoe routes that have drawn paddlers for more than a century. In the village of Temagami, the Caribou Mountain fire tower gives a wide view over the forest.
A cottage for rent on Lake Temagami is about real northern quiet: lake trout fishing, swimming off granite points, paddling to island campsites and watching for loons and moose. Many cottages are reached by boat from the Lake Temagami Access Road. Temagami is about 1 hour north of North Bay and about 5 hours from Toronto.
