Trout Lake stretches east from North Bay, a deep, cold and clear lake surrounded by forest and rocky Canadian Shield shoreline — quite different from shallow Lake Nipissing next door. It is the start of the historic Mattawa canoe route to the Ottawa River, and Camp Tamakwa and other summer camps have used its shores for generations.
A cottage for rent on Trout Lake gives you clear water for swimming and diving off the rocks, lake trout and bass fishing, and quiet bays for paddling — while North Bay’s restaurants and stores are 10 minutes away. The lake is about 3½ hours from Toronto.
