Golden Lake is a big lake in the middle of the Ottawa Valley, known for its sandy shoreline and warm water. The Algonquins of Pikwàkanagàn First Nation live on its shore and hold a summer powwow, and the Bonnechere River flows through the lake toward Eganville, where the Bonnechere Caves let you walk through an ancient sea floor.
A cottage for rent on Golden Lake, or on nearby Round Lake, is a relaxed family place for swimming, boating and fishing, with Killaloe’s cafés and Eganville’s shops close by. Golden Lake is about 1¾ hours from Ottawa and about 4 hours from Toronto.
