Barry’s Bay sits at the north end of Kamaniskeg Lake, a long, clear lake in the Madawaska Valley lined with cottages and sandy points. The area has a strong Polish heritage — nearby Wilno was the first Polish settlement in Canada — and the town has bakeries, a summer festival and everything you need for a lake holiday.
A cottage for rent near Barry’s Bay or Combermere offers swimming, boating and fishing on Kamaniskeg, paddling on the Madawaska River and day trips to Algonquin Park’s East Gate, about 40 minutes west. Barry’s Bay is about 2½ hours from Ottawa and 3½ hours from Toronto.
