The Homestead is a rustic off-grid log cabin on its own private lake, surrounded by 58 acres of forest a few minutes north of Bancroft. It is total privacy: wake to loons on the water, wander the trails, and spend evenings around a big lakeside fire pit under the stars. Kayaks, canoes and a rowboat are there to use.

The cabin sleeps up to four, with a loft bedroom and a king daybed in the living area. A wood stove keeps it warm on cool nights, and the screened porch gives you a bug-free spot to take in the view. It has off-grid electricity with a generator backup, a small fridge with freezer, an induction cooktop, a slow cooker, a toaster and a French press, a sink for dishes, and a BBQ with a side burner outside. Drinking water and firewood are provided.

Running water and a separate bathhouse with a hot shower are available from May to October; there is an outhouse year-round. Extra guests can pitch a tent by request for a fee. It is best for couples or close friends who want to unplug. Ask the owner about rates and availability for your dates.
