About this place

Fiddlehead Cabin is a designer cabin for two, set on a rise in the rolling hills about 20 minutes south of Riding Mountain National Park, near Erickson and Clear Lake. Big east-facing windows look over a wildflower meadow, the valley and the spruce forest beyond, and the setting is completely private.

Inside it's one open, warm space: adobe-style walls, hardwood floors and antique furniture, with a queen bed, a fully equipped kitchen, a dining area, a living area with an electric fireplace and a futon, and a three-piece bathroom with a shower. Bamboo sheets, blankets and towels are supplied, the Wi-Fi is excellent inside and out, and there are portable A/C units and ceiling fans for summer. The porch is half screened-in, half open, with a propane barbecue and four comfortable chairs.

A short path leads to a private sauna in a spruce grove, and a groomed 2.1 km trail for walking or biking starts at the front door. Deer, elk, moose and many birds pass by, and a great grey owl is often seen in the spruces. Open year-round, with snowshoes provided in winter.

For two guests. No pets, no smoking, no open fires. Spring, fall and winter: 2-night minimum (3 on long weekends). July and August: weekly stays, Friday to Friday. Check-in from 4 p.m., check-out by 10 a.m.
